This session will primarily focus on considering the role that vision and hearing play in the lives of our patients. We will also discuss the extent to which vision and hearing interact with one another, and what role the brain plays in not only understanding sensory information, but in helping to preserve function in later life. For example, did you know that there's a link between hearing loss and memory loss in older age? And that some conditions associated with mild cognitive impairment are also risk factors for sight loss? This session will explore all these links and then conclude with a short discussion of how optometrists and audiologists can work together to improve patient outcomes.
