This session aims to enable delegates to apply the concepts of surface friction and lubricity effectively. We will delve into the relationship between patient comfort, tear film dynamics, and contact lens interaction, examining the research on factors such as shear stress and the advantages of gel surface layers. Additionally, we will analyse the current landscape of contact lens wearers based on research findings, engaging with delegates to identify potential reasons for our dropout rates. The goal of this session is to prompt a reassessment of our approach to communicating contact lens features and benefits to patients, emphasising the importance of tailoring each consultation and recommendation to align with their individual lifestyle requirements.
